Raymond Edgar Walters

Raymond Edgar (Eddie) Walters, 52, of DuQuoin, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2000 at his residence.
Eddie was a correctional officer at the Big Muddy Prison in Ina.  He attended the Christian Fellowship Church and was a member of the DuQuoin Eagles.  He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam era.
He was born January 27, 1947 at DuQuoin, the son of Edgar L. and Shirley (Russell) Walters.  He married Virginia L. Frazer on February 14, 1996 at DuQuoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of DuQuoin; mother, Shirley Walters of DuQuoin; one daughter, Diana Carney of Kankakee; two step-sons, Shannon Reese and Kyle Reese, both of DuQuoin; one sister, Janet Alexander of Iroquois; one brother, Jack Walters of DuQuoin; seven grandchildren and a grandmother, Anna Walters of DuQuoin.
He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Raymond Eddie Walters.
Memorial services were Wednesday, January 26 at 11 a.m. at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Rev. C.L. McKinnies officiating.
Friends were able to call from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin.
Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice of Southern Illinois.
